AT GRATITUDE MIGRATION, WE'RE CAMPING ON THE BEACH AND WAKING UP WITH THE WAVES.
Yes, on the actual beach. Yes, in the sand!
WHERE CAN I CAMP? ARE THERE ALLOCATED SPACES OR PARTS OF THE BEACH AVAILABLE FOR OPEN CAMPING? CAN WE RESERVE A SPOT?
If you haven't chosen to camp with a theme camp or theme village, there is plenty of open camping. It gets progressively quieter the further you go - family camping located all the way to the right! Camping is first come first served except for organized theme camps. We encourage joining up with your friends and creative colleagues to bring something unique as a group offering.
HOW FAR WILL I BE WALKING WITH MY GEAR?
We will be arranging shuttles from the Gate, as well as beach buggies to help you get your gear from gate to your campsite. Our buggies are limited and waiting times may be long so please be patient, and be aware that if you choose to walk, the festival grounds are quite large and the weather is guaranteed to be hot. We recommend packing light and helping your friends and neighbors!
CAN WE HAVE A PROPANE STOVE/CHARCOAL GRILL/BURN BARREL IN OUR CAMP?
No open fires except for pre-approved theme camps, stoves/grills must be operated in the Culinary Cove picnic area.
HOW WILL MY TENT STAY DOWN ON THE BEACH - I CAN'T USE STAKES, CAN I?
Keep heavy things in your tent at all times! If you must stake your corners, bring auger stakes or candy cane-rebar and a mallet. If you can't find candy-cane rebar, bring tennis balls or plastic bottles to cover the spikes! Or just bring empty sandbags and fill 'em up on the beach!
ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON TENT SIZE?
No restrictions on tent sizes and you're welcome to bring a shade structure. However, the campgrounds get crowded, so please be considerate and don't take up more space than you need!
I AM NOT INTO THIS CAMPING THING. ANYTHING ELSE I CAN DO?
We will have pre-set-up tents available for reservation here, as well as tents and sleeping bags for rent; we also have full-service Bell Tent Packages including all the amenities and comforts of home, pitched on the beach. But for those who truly can’t bear to camp, there is also limited RV camping available. If you’re really stuck, there are some accommodations in the town of Keansburg.
ARE THERE RESTROOMS AND SHOWERS ON-SITE?
There will be porta-potties in various locations around the beach and parking area. There are also showers available on the boardwalk just near the porta-potties.
IS THERE ANY ACCESS TO POWER OR CHARGING STATIONS?
There is no power on the beach. Approved vendors and theme camps will be provided power. Personal solar driven generators are encouraged in the camping area. However, gas is restricted generators for safety reasons. We will have limited charging stations available at LNT & Sustainability Stations, however, please be mindful that since power is limited, we recommend charging up what you need beforehand and learning to live as off-the-grid as possible - it's only three days!
WHERE CAN I GET WATER?
There is no running water on the beach; however, we will have large tanks of free drinking water available for refilling for your personal needs. To show our Gratitude for the environment, we encourage you to use a reusable, refillable bottle (available to purchase onsite and online) rather than plastic bottles, which do harm to the fishies and mermaids.
WILL I BE ABLE TO PURCHASE ICE?
Ice will be available for sale onsite. You can also pick up ice from nearby local vendors in Keansburg.
WHAT FOOD SELECTIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE ONSITE?
We have partnered with local vendors in the NYC and New Jersey area, focusing on sustainable, ethically sourced foods to provide environmentally conscious nourishment. Our food truck lineup and dining area will be located just outside the Gate at Culinary Cove.
ARE THERE COOKING FACILITIES ON SITE?
No cooking on open flames are permitted in the camping area. Propane or coal grills can only be used in the designated Culinary Cove picnic area, which are located in Culinary Cove near Gate.
CAN WE BRING ALCOHOL ON SITE?
Sadly, NJ state law does not permit outside alcohol.
Please don't try to bring alcohol, especially in glass bottles, or our security team will have to confiscate them at the Gate. And no one likes that!
We will be offering a "bodega" service on site, selling 6-packs and larger quantities of beer for a reasonable price, just like you would have brought in, anyway! This way, you are covered by our liquor and beer license, and we air on the good side of the state whose property we use.
And, of course, our bars will be fully equipped to serve beautiful cocktails, designed just for us by Spice and Spirit Brooklyn.
CAN I BRING MY RV? OR IS THERE ANYWHERE ELSE I CAN CAMP?
Yes! There is limited RV parking, available with the purchase of an RV parking permit. Note that there are no RV services on the grounds, but if you’re looking to “glamp” there will be full-service Bell Tent Camping Packages available too. You are also welcome to look into local accommodations in New Jersey, as entry and re-entry will be permitted.
YOU’RE ON THE WATER. SO… CAN I BRING A BOAT?
YES! We encourage boat owners to deck out their boats, load them up with friends and drop anchor just offshore. There are Coast Guard guidelines, so register here, and the Gratitude Migration's Harbormaster will be in touch to coordinate. See our FAQ page for the skinny on boats!
ARE THERE ANY LIMITATIONS ON CAMPING OR RULES I SHOULD KNOW?
Please camp only in sanctioned areas. Remember, this is a residential neighborhood, and we’re grateful to the residents of Keansburg for hosting us here. Camping is prohibited on the main festival grounds, by the Gratitude Stage, Center Camp areas, the Mandala Biergarten, and inside the Mind/Body/Spirit environment. There are still plenty of options, and camping areas will are marked for your clarity.
CAN I BRING AMPLIFIED SOUND?
No amplified sound systems are allowed in the camping area. Personal speakers are fine, but try to keep the noise level down. We design a variety of amplified sound environments for your auditory pleasure!
