Dancitecture

Dancitecture incites exploration of spatial and emotional atmospheres through mindful movement. Activate this installation by your movement. By our playful instigation, reinvent the rules on how it might be moved through, how prescribed paths or perceived obstructions might be navigated or negotiated.

Dancitecture is a collaboration between architect, Kimberly Tate, and performance artist, Akim Funk Buddha.

The project encompasses a collection of performances and immersive site-specific architectural installations that dance and can be danced in. Often improvisational, often labyrinthian, the installations play with the unique spatial poetics of sites they inhabit. Constructed with simple, low-impact materials, they can beautifully stand alone but are meant to set the stage for dynamic embodied experiences.

Performers and participants are invited to reinvent the rules on how space might be moved through, how prescribed paths or perceived obstructions might be navigated or negotiated. Dancitecture incites exploration of spatial and emotional atmospheres through mindful movement.
