Elise Foster & Dean Hively - AcroYoga Flow - Finding Grace (All Levels)
Elise and Dean are friends who met through AcroYoga. Their continued love for the practice led them to AcroYoga International for teacher training, and to form a performance partnership as Acrolesque. Their classes emphasize safety, form, communication, and the energetics of partnership. They welcome all students, regardless of experience, and no partner is needed to attend class.
Elise, inspired by her yoga teaching grandmother, Lilo, began practicing yoga at a young age. In 2011, Elise "flew" for the first time at Meridian Hill Park and immediately fell in love with AcroYoga and its lineage of 3 different elements - yoga, acrobatics, and the healing arts. Apart from AcroYoga, she is also certified in Tantra Hatha Vinyasa yoga, Reiki, and Thai massage. Elise aims to bring to others the joy, power and healing energy that yoga and AcroYoga brought into her life. Like nothing else she has experienced, AcroYoga has the ability to transform lives - it can free one's playful spirit, create community, and cultivate trust and communication.
Dean has a laid back and positive approach to life and teaching. His goal is to promote joy, amazement, and comfort in community. His came to AcroYoga in 2011 after studying kung fu, including buddha palm, animal styles, chi gung, and lion dancing. The kung fu taught him a profound respect for the human form and its relation to the universe through connection with energy and body mechanics, and the yoga has deepened his respect for alignment, breath, and balance. Apart from the yogic practice, he has a Ph.D. in Natural Resources and works in as an environmental research scientist with a focus on agriculture.
